Free chlorination program to begin July 7
The annual free chlorine conversion and flushing program to improve potable water quality begins July 7 and ends July 22.
More details will be provided closer to the start date, but as a reminder, a free chlorine conversion( also referred to as a“ chlorine burn”) occurs when a water system( such as ours) that typically uses chloramine removes ammonia( needed to form chloramine) from the treatment process and disinfects the water with only chlorine.
This is a common practice used by many public water systems. Our customers may notice a slight chlorine smell and taste in their water during this time, however, the water is still safe for consumption and use.
