The Port District anchors have arrived!
The City’ s Port Branding Team has been working hard on a phased approach to incorporating The Port District’ s custom logo into the district.
Unique Rabbit Studios from Pompano Beach designed and manufactured the anchors to mimic the anchor, with each one being 6 feet tall and just over 5.5 feet wide. Six anchors will be mounted on concrete slabs in select locations along the Veterans Memorial Parkway / Westmoreland Boulevard corridor between Lyngate Park and Pioneer Park to better identify the area as The Port District.
Local artists with demonstrated experience in public art have been invited to submit proposed designs for the anchors. Once selected, artists will be responsible for conceptualizing and installing their design on the anchor.
A special thanks to staff from Parks & Recreation for assistance with site selection, Planning and Zoning for coordinating with the anchor manufacturer and Public Works for receiving and providing temporary storage of the anchors until they can be distributed for the artist’ s touch!
