Celebrating 65 years of Port St. Lucie’ s history
Port St. Lucie officially turned 65 on April 27 and the entire community was invited to the party with music, stories, food and fun.
Residents gathered April 25 at The Port District to celebrate Port St. Lucie’ s incredible journey, from its early beginnings to becoming the sixth-largest city in Florida and an All-America City.
The free celebration invited families, friends and neighbors to come together and honor the people, places and progress that make Port St. Lucie a special place. Guests enjoyed:
• A lively evening of music by The Motowners
• Delicious bites from a variety of food trucks
• Children’ s activities
• A storytelling station where residents shared their own PSL moments and milestones
Port St. Lucie’ s beginnings look a little different from most South Florida cities. Port St. Lucie was incorporated in 1961 by a development group selling quarter‐acre lots to retirees, without the usual city infrastructure like sidewalks, streetlights or water and sewer systems.
