Rock Steady Master Class
On Feb. 25, the Parks and Recreation fitness team hosted a Rock Steady Boxing master class for the Parkinson’ s fighters. This event brought together participants from all class levels for a day of empowerment, learning and camaraderie.
The class began with a boxing workout led by coaches Jill and Sandy, focusing on proper form and technique. It also served as a great opportunity for the coaches to introduce new movements and terminology they had learned during their head coach training.
After the workout, snacks were provided and guest speaker Stacy Ackner provided an enlightening discussion on the latest advancements in Parkinson’ s medication technology. Her insights offered hope and valuable information to those fighting the disease, emphasizing the continuous progress in treatment options.
Fitness team runs together at Tradition Heart and Sole 5K
Mike, Bre, Angie and Sandy from the fitness team got together and participated in the Tradition Heart and Sole 5K on Feb. 14. It was a great morning in beautiful Port St. Lucie, where they tested their own fitness levels and enjoyed meaningful team building together.
The day was a wonderful opportunity for fighters in the program to come together, support each other and build a sense of community. Participants shared personal stories, motivated one another and celebrated their collective strength.
Also, Rock Steady coaches Jill and Sandy have been actively putting into practice the ideas they learned during their head coach training in Miami this February. These new approaches have energized the program, improving the experience and effectiveness of the workouts and the fighters love it!
