Other highlights included:
• There was a significant increase in gasoline and automotive fluids from the previous event: 797 gallons compared to 482 gallons.
• 580 pounds of cooking oil was collected and properly disposed of by our Utility Systems Department!( Special thanks to Kevin Palmer!)
• Total weight of all batteries collected equaled 2,460 pounds.
• 10,969 pounds of chemicals were collected, including spray paints, solvents, cleaning products, car wax, bug sprays, insecticides, weed control chemicals, fertilizers and pool chemicals.
• Latex paint is the most common item residents take to the collection day that is not accepted. Proper disposal is done at home, drying paint out completely, by air-drying it or using a paint hardening additive, before adding it to the weekly trash collection.

This month, KPSLB recognizes the hard-working St. Lucie West Centennial High School NJROTC. Hundreds of students( and future service members!) have volunteered with this group since 2012.
Keep up the great work, everyone!
