Staffers attend leadership academies
Parks & Recreation team members Sandy McKeithen and Carrie Wilbur recently attended Florida Recreation & Parks Association( FRPA) Leadership Academies. Sandy attended the FRPA Emerging Leaders Institute from Feb. 19-21 and Carrie attended the FRPA Leadership School from Feb. 16-19.
The Emerging Leaders Institute is a learning journey where content is connected and built. This institute targets professionals new to supervisory positions, or those ready to assume a supervisory role within their organization.
The FRPA Leadership School is designed to further develop managers who are leading from the middle of their organization. The FRPA Leadership School is about the people and the plans participants are involved within their work. The program is intended to be the next step in gearing up participants for management of department assets and to build a sense of culture and progress.
Content areas are aligned with the national certification plan( Certified Parks & Recreation Professional – CPRP) and national accreditation program for Parks and Recreation agencies( CAPRA). The content areas identified can also be continued through to the FRPA Abrahams-Jones Academy.
Sandy and Carrie’ s commitment to personal and professional growth is inspiring. Both enhance their leadership skills by strengthening their individual capabilities. They continue to contribute greatly to the continued success of the Parks & Recreation team, and we look forward to the positive impacts of your leadership in the months ahead.
Congratulations, Sandy and Carrie Wilbur!
Book vending machine arrives
The St. Lucie County Library book vending machine arrived at the Community Center on March 11.
Through an agreement, the City will provide space for the St. Lucie County Library System’ s new book vending machine, which will provide options for the community while the Ravenswood Library is demolished and rebuilt. The county is planning a ribbon-cutting ceremony, which should take place in early April.
Homeschool PE students get more space to play
In our homeschool PE class, we ' ve made an exciting change by opening up the basketball court to full court play. The kids are appreciating the extra space and have been having a lot of fun with it. Now they can enjoy playing flag football and it ' s nice to see them getting into the game. Soccer also has become a hit, with everyone getting involved in dribbling and taking shots.
It ' s been wonderful to watch them enjoy these activities while staying active and working together as a team! www. PSLParks. com
