Attendees go green at revamped Irish Festival
This year’ s Port St. Lucie Irish Festival featured a change from prior years, with food, historical displays, vendors, music and activities with roots deep in Celtic traditions.
Headliners The Screaming Orphans had festival-goers on their feet with a unique fusion of folk and pop. Rory Makem, Palm Beach Pipes and Drums and the Tir Na Greine School of Irish Dance rounded out the day’ s musical entertainment.
The Highland Games, celebrating Scottish and Celtic culture, included the caber toss and sheaf toss, among other competitions.
Authentic Irish food and beverages, along with a cultural area highlighting Irish sports, authors, musical instruments and symbols also were a big draw, making guests feel like they were truly in Ireland for the day.
