Youth Council attends Legislative Action Days in Tallahassee
Six of our Port St. Lucie Youth Council members – Kendall Mercurio, Maya Moulton, Tahisha Aristene, Asia Green, Jaiden Porter and Jarrett Soto – traveled to Tallahassee for the 2025 Youth Council Legislative Action Days from March 24-26.
Students received hands-on, interactive training designed to empower them with the tools to navigate difficult conversations, process information critically and build strong connections in and outside of the Youth Council.
Throughout the program, Youth Council members met with city and state officials. A special highlight was their conversation with Rep. Dana Trabulsy, where they discussed important issues facing our community.
Students also toured the Florida State University campus with the director of Student Government and Advocacy, who shared information about how student government functions at the university level.
Engagement Manager Stephanie Vernot and Digital Media Producer Andrew Sangas accompanied the students on the trip. City Councilwoman Stephanie Morgan and Deputy City Manager for Strategic Initiatives and Innovation Kate Parmelee participated in meetings with the Youth Council members.
