Office of Management and Budget celebrates Government Finance Professionals Week
Mayor Shannon Martin signed a proclamation recognizing Government Finance Professionals Week from March 18-22 .
The Florida Government Finance Officers Association ( FGFOA ) sponsors a weeklong series of activities aimed at recognizing government finance professionals and the vital services they provide to our state and community . OMB joined the Finance Department and finance professionals across all City departments to celebrate their hard work and dedication to the City .
Fun facts about City of Port St . Lucie finance professionals :
Collectively , they have stewardship over the City ’ s shared financial resources and have supported the City in :
• Earning the Government Finance Officers Associations Distinguished Budget Presentation Award for 34 consecutive years
• Earning the Government Finance Officers Associations Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for 31 consecutive years
• Maintaining the National Institute for Government Procurement Accreditation Award for a Quality Public Procurement Department for 21 consecutive years .
• Maintaining the Florida Association of Public Procurement Officials Award for Excellence in Public Procurement for 20 consecutive years .
• About 50 financial professionals are staffed in OMB and Finance .
• There are additional finance professionals in departments throughout the City .
• Several staff hold master ’ s degrees in accounting ; public administration or business administration ; and maintain various credentials such as certified public accountant ; certified government finance officer ; certified public officer ; and certified public procurement officer .
