Neighborhood Services launches Commercial Façade Improvement Grant Program
On March 4 , the Neighborhood Services Department launched the Commercial Façade Improvement Grant Program . The grant provides funding to assist local business owners and property owners in the restoration , renovation or improvement of commercial façades . Eligible improvements include exterior painting , lighting , door / window repairs , awnings , landscaping , minor façade improvements and outdoor living wall installation .
Business owners can receive up to $ 10,000 through a matching grant , with the program paying 50 % of the improvement costs and business owners paying the other 50 %.
A public information session was held Feb . 25 . Funding is provided through the federal Community Development Block Grant ( CDBG ). Interested business owners can apply online now through March 25 at www . link . cityofpsl . com / CFIGrant .
Neighborhood Services hosts TCACE ethics training
On Feb . 27 , the Neighborhood Services Department hosted an ethics training for members of the Treasure Coast Association of Code Enforcement ( TCACE ). Code officers from multiple jurisdictions within Indian River , Martin , and St . Lucie counties came together to hear a presentation from Orange Data on what it means to be an ethical member of government and how to serve the community in a fair and balanced way .
Staff members Rachel Knaggs and Sara Brown currently serve as the vice president and treasurer , respectively , of TCACE . NSD is excited that members of its staff are taking on leadership roles within a local Florida Association of Code Enforcement chapter where they can help the department connect with neighboring code enforcement agencies .
