Port St. Lucie Police

Marine Unit
On Feb. 20, at approximately 5:12 p. m., PSLPD was notified of a boat crash.
A boater discovered a severely injured person floating in the water and assisted him to a nearby dock to meet EMS. Our personnel located the injured man’ s boat and confirmed there were no others in need of assistance.
Ultimately, FWC assumed investigative authority for the hit-and-run incident.
Crossing Guards
Our Crossing Guard Appreciation Breakfast was held Feb. 5.
The department has more than 50 crossing guards helping our children to and from their schools every morning and afternoon. Their presence helps to create a safe, predictable environment at busy intersections. By directing traffic, slowing vehicles and providing a human point of contact, crossing guards reduce the risk of accidents, foster a culture of safety and give families peace of mind.
Their dedication not only protects young pedestrians but also teaches them lifelong lessons about road awareness and community responsibility.
SCUBA Team
A fisherman, using his new fish finder, discovered a submerged vehicle in the C-24 Canal near Crosstown Parkway.
On Feb. 11, our dive team meticulously rigged the rust-caked 1986 Toyota Supra for recovery from the murky depths, with help from a local towing company. The team carefully cleared away silt and marine growth before lifting the battered chassis to the surface. Extensive corrosion posed a significant challenge as detectives had to work to uncover the vehicle’ s history and ultimately determine why it was there.
This operation also provided an excellent real-life training opportunity for our dive team and marine unit.
