IE Major
Subjects
Some of the major subjects taught in any Industrial Engineering Program are listed below just to give a general idea of what Industrial Engineer learn about in their 4 year program. (There are other subjects which
support the Industrial Engineering Program too but the major one’s are focused here only)
Production Planning and Control
The ultimate objective of production planning and control, like that of all other manufacturing controls, is to
contribute to the profits of the enterprise. As with inventory management and control, this is accomplished
by keeping the customers satisfied through the meeting of delivery schedules. Specific objectives of production planning and control are to establish routes and schedules for work that will ensure the optimum
utilization of materials, workers, and machines and to provide the means for ensuring the operation of the
plant in accordance with these plans.
Simulation of Industrial Systems
It helps protect your business by analyzing the impact of new, "what-if" business ideas, rules, and strategies
before implementation on live customers—offline, without causing disruptions in service.
Industrial Facilities Design
Facility layout and design is an important component of a business's overall operations, both in terms of
maximizing the effectiveness of the production process and meeting the needs of employees. The basic
meaning of facility is the space in which a business's activities take place. The layout and design of that
space impact greatly how the work is done—the flow of work, materials, and information through the system.
