está en su fase de aplicación, los resultados están actualizados con los cambios que han
ocurrido en La Vinotinto. En el período 2001-2007, se obtuvieron las siguientes categorías de
contenido en el trabajo psicológico: trabajo científico y cambio de actitud. En el período 20072013, se obtuvieron las siguientes categorías de contenido en el trabajo psicológico: trabajo
científico, herramientas y rutina.
ABSTRACT
Since 2001, the Venezuelan National Football Team, best known as La Vinotinto, started
having victories and gradually became a winning team in present time.. One of the tools that
contributed to this change was the use o f sport psychology. Nevertheless, there is little
evidence in Venezuela about the psychological preparation carried out in national football.
The purpose of this study is to analyze which are the aspects that characterize the
psychological work in La Vinotinto, from the 2001-2008 period and the 2008-2013 period, and
its influence in the psychology of the Venezuelan footballer. Methodologically speaking, an
emergent design used in the social sciences was used. The data recollection techniques consist
of in-deph interviews with psychologists, footballers that belong to La Vinotinto, fans and the
content analysis of newspapers and books where the psychological aspect of the team is
mentioned. Taking in account that this research is in its initial phase, the results are much
updated with the changes that have been occurring with the national football team that in the
last years has been improving its international performance. In the past it was not identified as
a winning team and at the moment it is becoming a national symbol of prestige. In the 20012008 period, the following content categories in the psychological work were obtained:
scientific work and attitude change. In the 2008-2013 period, the following content categories
in the psychological work were obtained: scientific work, tools and routine.

INTRODUCCIÓN
A nivel de masas, fue en 1876 que se jugó el primer partido de fútbol en Venezuela, dónde
participaron mineros ingleses que se asentaron en la región de El Callao, Estado Bolívar.
Actualmente es uno de los deportes más populares del país, la cantidad de personas que llenan
los diferentes estadios y la cantidad de practicantes dan cuenta del creciente interés de los
venezolanos por el deporte más jugado en el mundo.
Como todo deporte, dentro de la disciplina del fútbol se contempla la preparación psicológica
como parte del entrenamiento deportivo. A nivel mundial se ha demostrado lo importante que
es el aporte de la psicología del deporte en los equipos de alto rendimiento y el fútbol no es la
excepción. Desde 1901 aproximadamente data la psicología en el fútbol con publicaciones
