Tell us about your journey in this industry and what sets you apart from other artist?

My journey has been storybook at times and very frustrating at others. The storybook portion goes like this…. I was at the right place at the right time and had perfect timing!

I was signed by MicMac Records at the very ripe age of 19. I was part of a solo project by a fairly new Producer Owen “O.S.” Soba, who had an idea of transforming a poem written to him by his ex-girlfriend into a song. As the story goes, Valerie Puig (the ex-girlfriend) wrote a poem to him in high school math class after a less than amicable break up. Valerie had no idea that her poem would become a song that would turn out to be one of the most admired Freestyle songs of all time, “Crying Over You”. Owen and I took what we had and collaborated on writing the finishing touches to the song and the rest was history. “Crying Over You” changed all of our lives. It gave me opportunities I would never have had by breaking barriers and touching people everywhere. It has given me the opportunity to tour all around the US and is still listened to in many different countries and all over the US. I’ve had the opportunity to perform in front of hundreds of thousands of people in my career on some of the biggest stages in the US. I have sung in Madison Square Garden, Radio City Music Hall, Taj Majal in Atlantic City, American Airlines Arena, PNC Arts Center, Jones Beach Amphitheatre and many other huge venues. I’ve done major show cruises and sang on national television. I went on to release follow up songs, which had some humbling success, but none quite like my first. This year makes it officially 25 years that I have been performing to Freestyle fans everywhere, for that I am blessed beyond belief! For me to look back in 2015 after all this time and still be able to tell you flat out “I am still getting calls to sing 25 years later!” in the end is simply nothing less than storybook.
