Laurel Caverns is Pennsylvania ’ s largest cave with more than four miles of passages . It is formed from calcareous sandstone , so you won ’ t find the traditional stalactites that are found in other Pennsylvania caves . Instead , it features sculptured sandstone walls formed by wind and water currents millions of years ago . The cave tour descends 150 feet , which is only a third of way down to the cave ’ s lowest point .
Spelunking / caving is available to visitors who want to further explore the cave in its natural state . Experienced guides offer a lower cave adventure , which takes three hours , and an upper cave adventure that takes two hours . Check the website for specific times and group reservations .
Kavernputt is an educational and entertaining cave experience for those who cannot physically visit the cave . The 10,000 square foot , 18-hole miniature golf course can be played from a wheelchair and features unique aspects of caves .
