For so many , this victory represents a return to the way things used to be . Crowded gymnasiums , vibrant pep rallies , and team bus rides had been missing-in-action for several years . For this volleyball team , it is a return to competing among the best in the state .
Athletic Director Ted Leasor reflected on their accomplishments . “ This is such a talented and balanced team that a state title was their main goal from the start of the season . They are a group with a tremendous love for the sport and each other . This state title keeps the expectation bar high for volleyball and our other sports .”
The pride carries down to Coach Terri Purichia ’ s family . Terri ’ s husband , Jeff Purichia commented , “ I feel like this is the season I wanted for all three of my daughters . I wanted all of them to be a part of a state championship coached by Momma . Unfortunately , only Grace saw that . I ' m super happy they were coached by Terri because I played football for my Pop . I ' m super happy at least one of them got a ring !”
As the Providence Family celebrates the 2022 girls ’ volleyball championship , the entire community can feel the collective inhale of their breath and the swelling up of Blue Pride .
