Letter to Parents
Dear Parents:
We are honored to inform you that your child has been selected to participate in a program sponsored by the
Center for Educator Recruitment, Retention, & Advancement (CERRA). This middle school program, called
ProTeam, is especially designed to identify young people who have the academic and social skills necessary to be
successful in high school and college. This is based on their commitment, desire, and motivation to strive for
excellence.
The program is selective, and only those students who have demonstrated good academic skills, good selfdiscipline, and good attitudes have been chosen to participate. We are pleased that South Carolina has focused
attention at the middle school level to help identify students with outstanding potential. Through the ProTeam
experience, we hope to work with you to guide your student toward college and a successful career, possibly as a
teacher. The possibilities are boundless.
The ProTeam curriculum will be a lot of fun, but it will be fun with a serious purpose. Here are four goals of the

ProTeam invites personal growth through fun activities focusing on personal development, group interaction,
and service to others.
ProTeam encourages focus on the positive aspects of self, family, community, school, and career.
ProTeam develops and enhances leadership skills.
ProTeam expands horizons to include those skills necessary for success in high school, college, and a
professional career.
Success often requires the collective efforts of many people ---parents, teachers, principals, guidance counselors,
community members, and students. It is a pleasure to welcome you and your child into our Pro-fessional Team.
