ProTeam Club We strongly encourage you to offer a ProTeam Club at your school. At least half of the membership of the club should consist of students who have been through the ProTeam class. Use material and activities from the curriculum that you weren't able to use in the class (the optional activities) at the club meetings. The club activities should serve as a way to keep the ProTeam students and other club members focused on what has to happen in order for them to become successful, professional adults and to keep them interested in exploring teaching as a profession. ProTeam Showcase As a culminating activity for the ProTeam course, teachers may want to use the ProTeam Showcase as a final assessment piece. The showcase would allow students to share with the school, family and community what they have learned from their experiences in ProTeam. Objectives: v To provide students with the opportunity to display their work and experiences v To gain valuable, positive public relations for the ProTeam program, the school, and the students Procedure: Depending on the structure you choose to follow, the Showcase could last from an hour to a full day. The Booths: v Organize the ProTeam Showcase to resemble a Career Fair; however, the focus is on the importance of education and the skills, knowledge, and experiences that have been a part of the ProTeam experience. v Decide what booths or displays to set up for the showcase. There are many possibilities. Each booth may be focused on a particular module of the ProTeam curriculum, OR you may wish to showcase individual activities from the ProTeam curriculum. For example, one booth could highlight the service learning activities the ProTeam students participated in during the course. v ProTeam students will serve as hosts for the booths. They will also be responsible for coming up with displays/decorations for the booths. In addition to booths that focus on ProTeam activities, another could provide refreshments for the visitors. Who's Invited? The visitors to the ProTeam Showcase need to be determined based on several factors. Two groups to target would include potential ProTeam students for the following year and the faculty/staff in the school. Also, this showcase would be a good opportunity for parents of ProTeamers to come in and see what their child has experienced in the class. If possible, this would be an appropriate time for the Parent Workshop if you haven't already had one. What Is Going On? Visitors would have the opportunity to casually visit each booth. The ProTeam students at each booth could explain their displays and answer questions about the ProTeam class. PROTEAM DREAMQUEST CURRICULUM 17
