Thank you all for coming this evening. It is heartwarming to look out and see so many familiar faces
–– family, friends, colleagues and even a few students. After forty years in the teaching business, it is hard
to believe that it will all be over in a few days.
August 2005 seems like just this past fall. There I was: a new college graduate in a new millennium,
in a new town, in a new job, and in a new school. I jumped in with both feet; I knew no fear. Looking
back, several things stand out in my memory. Being named Teacher of the Yea "f
