DESCRIPTOR:
Students will examine the impact of motivational levels on their success.
ACTIVITIES:
Setting goals can help prepare students for a successful future only when students are
motivated enough to achieve them. The students will examine their motivational level
and strategies for improvement.
1. Have the students write a ten-line poem about what motivation means to them. They
may begin with Roses are Red, Violets are blue… (2 lines). You are encouraged to
write one as an example, but share it last.
2. Ask for volunteers to share their poems with the class. After several have presented,
lead students in a brainstorming session to determine what the word motivation
means. Be sure to help them understand that when we say someone has motivation,
we mean he has ambition or inspiration that makes him want to do something without
having to have someone tell him to do it or force him to do it.
3. Ask the students to give examples of tim W2v
