Students will list their dreams and goals.
ACTIVITIES:
1. Begin the class by playing only the audio from the YouTube clip of the last portion of
Dr. King’s speech that begins “I have a dream today . . .” and ends with “…and all
flesh shall see it together.” Don’t tell them what it is you are playing. Ask them if they
recognize the words and who is saying them. Set the stage for what is happening How old were their parents when this speech was given in 1963? Have they ever been
to Washington to the U.S. Capital where he stood on the steps to deliver it? Help them
understand what was happening in the U.S. when Dr. King gave his “I Have a Dream”
speech.
