3. Give students a copy of the “Dreams” handout. Allow them to read “Dreams” by Langston Hughes silently. After they read the poem, have them talk about the two discussion questions on the handout. Also, discuss what happens when people do not dream or set goals for themselves. Ask for two volunteers to read the poem dramatically or have one student read aloud while another acts it out. 5. Allow students to complete and discuss the results of the activity, “Are You a Dreamer or Doer?” ASSESSMENT: Choose one or more of the following means of assessment: 2. The students will make a dream catcher using the “Make a Dream Catcher” instruction sheet. Have them write on or decorate small cards depicting their dreams and attach them to the dream catcher with string or fishing line. 3. The students will select a musical recording that appeals to them and compose a song or poem to accompany it that expresses their beliefs about dreams. They can choreograph it by including dance steps, spins, etc. They may want to video tape it as a musical video presentation for the entire class to enjoy. FAMILY INVOLVEMENT: Students may choose a family member to interview. Students should ask their family member to describe a dream they had as a young person and how they made it become a reality. Allow students to share this information with the ProTeam members during the next class period. PROTEAM DREAMQUEST CURRICULUM   7-5 MODULE 7: 1.
