STANDARD:
Students will recognize the characteristics of effective teaching.
Students will discover the hidden values of lessons learned in school.
1. Begin the activity by asking for a show of hands of those students who attended
kindergarten, Head Start, or a day care setting. Ask them if they think they learned
anything important while they were there. Let them respond with a “thumbs up” or
show of hands. Allow several who responded positively to share what they feel they
learned.
2. Divide the students into groups of four or five. Give each student a copy of the
handout “All I Ever Needed to Know I learned in Kindergarten.
