TO DO AHEAD OF TIME: You may want to request permission for five minutes at a faculty meeting, well ahead of the date your students plan to begin their assistantships. Explain the aims of the teaching assistantships, and enlist the help of faculty. Distribute letters to faculty members using the “Letter to Faculty” sample. Enclose a ProTeam class roster and a “Cooperating Teacher Response Form.” Allow adequate time for faculty members to respond and for students to send letters of introduction.
