ACTIVITIES:
A pennant is a long, narrow, relatively small flag, often triangular, used for identification
or as an emblem for a winner in a contest. The students will create pennants that
symbolize their past, present, and a positive future.
1. In the upper left corner of the pennant, instruct students to draw symbols that tell
something about their early years. (If they moved around a lot, a car or moving van
might be the symbol they choose. A dog or cat might indicate the importance of a pet
to them. A book with a happy face might show they liked school, or a baseball might
indicate they played the game.)
2. In the lower left corner, instruct students to draw symbols that show their present time
of life. (Athletic equipment could represent sports, and a book could show how they
spend leisure time.)
