3. Distribute a copy of the “Instructions for Four Cultures” handout to each class
member and one of the four trait descriptions from the “Traits of Four Cultures”
handout. Each group will receive a different trait description. Direct the groups to
read the handouts quietly and keep their information within their groups. You may
want to let the groups give their culture a name.
4. Explain to the groups that they will have thirty minutes to develop and rehearse their
six cultural activities.
5. When all groups have developed their six activities, give each group a paper cup full
of raisins, peanuts, or small candies. Explain that this food will serve as the
refreshments that each group will have available to offer visitors. Post the schedule
of visits, and direct groups to take two minutes to prepare for the first visit.
[Note: This activity will take several days. You might want to do the introduction and
Round One the first day, Rounds Two and Three the second day, Rounds Four, Five, and
final discussion the third (and possibly fourth) day.]
