DESCRIPTORS: Students will identify their personality traits and showcase those traits via various media. Students will evaluate themselves as diverse individuals, learners, and community members. ACTIVITIES: 1. Begin the class by playing a portion of Glee’s or Cyndi Lauper’s version of “True Colors.” Tell the class that in addition to this record, a film company also has an ad that talks about true colors. True colors in life may refer to revealing one’s true self, the real me. Pass out a copy of the lyrics to the song. Ask students to discuss the meaning of the lyrics. You may want to share with students that the writer, Billy Steinburg, originally included the lyrics, “You’ve got too many faces in your makeup kit,” but decided to remove them.
