Following the Early Years Foundation Stage guidance, the children
experience stimulating and varied activities each day. Don’t be surprised
to learn that your child has spent time playing with jelly, foam or paint – messy
play encourages learning and is fun! Whilst emphasis is on play, listening to stories,
music, IT and expressing themselves freely in art all help with the development of
language, literacy, numeracy and social skills which enable them to become active
independent learners.
Children learn to share, take turns, have fun and form friendships that can
last throughout the school. The Swans sit down together at lunchtime and can
enjoy a freshly cooked nutritious meal. Good manners are important and the children
are encouraged to say ‘please’ and ‘thank you’ at every opportunity.
Outdoor play is part of everyday life at Mayville Nursery. A safety surface
playground with a variety of exciting equipment and a sensory garden area, allows
the Swans to experience a wealth of learning opportunities in a safe and secure
environment. In addition, frequent trips out allow them to experience the wider
community in which they live.
We are open 50 weeks of the year (8am – 6pm).
