The course is aimed at office or administration managers and other staff working in senior or managerial administrative roles. They may manage a team or a project, or be looking to do so, and want to strengthen and improve their higher level skills to take on more responsibility.
Participants will learn how to manage and improve their performance, how to communicate more effectively, how to support the purpose and values of an organisation, help to assess and manage risk, and how to support sustainable working practices. These five topics are mandatory, and they’ ll also choose from a range optional units, including project management, event organisation and planning meetings. Learners taking the diploma will usually choose more optional units than those aiming for the certificate.
Learners could progress to a Level 5 Business and Administration course, or go on to higher education, including degree-level studies.

Staff working in senior administrative roles in a business, such as office supervisor, personal assistant, administration officer or secretary. They are likely to enjoy a degree of responsibility already, perhaps supervising a team and undertaking duties that require accuracy and strong attention to detail, such as planning meetings, creating reports, managing procedures or analysing information.
There are four mandatory units focusing on: work in a business environment, communication, managing your own performance, and improving your own performance. Learners also choose from a range of optional units, including problem solving, negotiation skills, supervising teams, designing and producing documents, and analysing and reporting data.
Learners can progress to a Level 4 or 5 Business and Administration qualification, or to a more specific area of administration, such as medical administration.
