Post 16 only
performing arts course
Course Overview Student Experience
If you have a passion for performing arts
and also want to discover how your skills
can play more of a role than just on stage,
our Community Arts Practice qualification
provides you with the practical skills to
enrich, inform and transform the lives of
others through performance. The Community Arts Practice course works with a range
of supporters from Chickenshed Theatre, Candoco, Turtle
Key Arts and SLiDE Dance Company and for the last four
years students have also been invited to perform on
the main stage at Camp Bestival, as well as facilitating
a number of theatre workshops. Other partners include
Crisis, MIND, Age UK and each year students perform as
part of the national Shakespeare week. Students have
also had the opportunity to travel and deliver community
arts works internationally in and around Europe as well
as India.
As the only Post 16 course in the UK designed specifically to
build skills in community arts delivery, you will train in acting,
dance, music and directing and will also learn about the
importance of applied theatre and evolve as an inclusive
community arts facilitator.
This unique, creative and energetic course is a great
way to give back to the community at the same time as
building on technique and performance experience.
Arts Therapy, Drama and Applied Theatre, Education and
Inclusive Engagement in the Arts are natural areas of study
to follow on from after this course. Our alumni students are
currently studying at The Royal Central School for Speech
and Drama, Guildhall, East 15 and at the Birmingham
School of Acting.
Available only if you are aged 16 or over, you will achieve a
UAL Level 3 Extended Diploma in Performing Arts at the end
