Article II : The purposes for which the corporation is formed are as follows :
The Corporation is organized and shall be operated as a nonprofit corporation for the purpose of providing a rural cemetery or burial ground , and for the erection of tombs , cenotaphs , or other monuments for or in memory of the dead , at Mount Auburn in Cambridge and Watertown and in other such places as the Corporation may determine . The Corporation may carry out such purposes by engaging in activities which may lawfully be carried out by a corporation subject to Chapters 180 and 114 of the General Laws of Massachusetts and which is exempt from federal income tax under Section 501 ( c )( 13 ) of the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 , as amended ( the “ Code ”).
