Happy 2020 peeps! What a year 2019 was eh? From the revision of the RPGT to the
reintroduction of the ‘Rent To Own’ initiative. The HOC (Home Ownership Campaign) that
was initiated by REHDA and the Housing Ministry was indeed a positive move for property
homebuyers, making it easier for people to obtain owning their homes rather than renting
(although I am not against renting as a whole).
But if there was one thing I have to highlight about 2019 is the fact that the affordable
housing chapter remains unsolved. I will give credit where credit is due, hence I applaud
the certain initiatives taken like the Rumah SelangorKu initiative and the aid to first-time-
homebuyers with regards to down payments, but the main crux of the matter to me remains
unsolved. Let’s hope that this matter is looked into with a magnifying glass now that we are
in 2020.
I would like to take this opportunity to wish all our Buddhist readers Gong Xi Fat Chai
and wish everyone a prosperous year ahead filled with happiness, love, abundance of peace
and good health.
