THE COMPULSORY “WIND AND WATER” (AKA FENGSHUI):
QI ALIGNMENT
Although many misunderstood ‘Fengshui’ for being a stereotype taboo without any basis or even
mistaken as a religion, its ardent fans and practitioners of this thousand years practice adhered
strictly to the teachings of the ‘TO-DO’s and ‘NOT-TO-DO’s in anticipation of the new year. Aside
from Spring cleaning, one of the most common beliefs are the ritual directions on Chinese New
Year eve as well as the date of commencement of work. While that is not all Fengshui related
specifically, the feel-good feeling is of utmost importance. Every Chinese believes that if certain
alignments are made in their favour without clashing the year energies or Qi, it can bode well
for all aspect of their life throughout the rest of the year.
For the new home buyers, every home facing and sitting position have been chosen
properly to match its occupants for a prosperous home environment. Not to mention the floor
which they reside and of course the ever-superstitious house number! For renters, they will
find houses to rent suitable for their ‘Bazi’ or life destiny charts. Kicking off the Chinese New
Year with a good start is almost instrumental for the Chinese. Having said that, we can also see
property developers rushing to get Fengshui consultant or Master of this subject to be on their
CNY events such as talks and open houses. And in recent times, this Chinese astrology does draw
crowds of thousands if not hundreds whenever there is ‘FREE’ advice to offer to the general
public.
HOUSE VISITATION
Just in any festivities, Chinese New Year is all about catching up family and friends through
open houses and house visits, which explains the need to spring clean and decorate the house
and beautify them since this annual practice allows others to come into the personal space.
Everyone seems to be generous in their pursuit of hosting another from the food and drinks to
the angpow packets given to the children and the unmarried (singles).
Meanwhile, in the usual real estate investment market scenario, landlord are
recommended to pay visits to their Chinese tenants during this time of the year. It’s pretty
much the relationship building that supposed to exist to ensure both landlord-tenant are
communicating and appreciating each other gesture in providing a peaceful occupancy to one
another in exchange for passive rental.
Whilst the list can go on forever, one thing for sure, real estate is a basic necessity in our
daily lives. As we welcome the new year in anticipation of brighter days ahead, lest we forget the
unfortunate and homeless people out in the streets. Festivities are celebrated with loved ones in
the comfort of our abode. For those who even struggle with a roof above their heads, festivity is
just a much-needed relief to be with family members having their little reunion despite all odds.
Being simplistic with nature is some times already a blessing to many. For everyone who enjoys
reading this piece of article, do remember to make that necessary call back or visit your family
during this festive season. Happy Chinese New Year to everyone! Gong XI Fa Cai!
