AYDA is more than just a competition , it is a platform that nurtures the future generation of designers , allowing them to reach their fullest potential .
This platform was initially conceptualised to be gathering of like-minded individuals who sought to pool their resources and share their collective vision , to leave behind a brighter future . It fills me with great joy that even after 13 years , the passion to provide a one-of-a-kind experience and to groom the designers of tomorrow is still alive and well today .
We will continue in our pursuit to instil in them the desire to never stop learning and I believe that AYDA will continue to be a platform where young designers can learn and grow their talents to the next level .
2020 was the first time that AYDA has gone fully virtual and we have overcome them despite the hurdles we faced . Our goal as always is to stay connected with all participants . Even on a virtual platform , the judges took the time and effort to conduct workshops , mentoring and coaching sessions . I would like to commend everyone involved for making AYDA 2020 a roaring success and the ceaseless pursuit to nurture the design community .
I am proud of each and every one of the finalists and as for the winners , I ’ m excited to see you both excel in your journey .”
The Asia Young Designer Awards 2020 Award Ceremony saw renowned judges from the Architectural and Interior Designing industry . Chief judges who adjudicated this year ’ s competition were Ar . Sarly Adre Sarkum ( Architecture Category ) and Mr . Lai Siew Hong ( Interior Design Category ).
Speaking on Dayana Aripin ’ s design , Chief Judge for the Architectural category , Ar . Sarly , said , “ Dayana ’ s ‘ Micro-housing Within Heritage Context ’ project was executed with extraordinary detail and care , and she communicated the space and concept brilliantly . It is not impossible to bring this project to life . In addition , with the rent control issues in Penang , this project has addressed all the contextual considerations , solving multiple issues in one elegant solution .”
