The CIE IGCSE and International A-levels are amongst the most globally-recognised qualifications for secondary students , allowing Lighthouse graduates to progress to the workforce or the tertiary institution of their choice . Lighthouse Secondary School is also the first school in Mauritius to be a registered centre for Pearson International GCSE and Advanced Level examinations . Pearson is the UK ’ s largest awarding organisation , offering a wide range of international secondary qualifications .
The primary and secondary school share a purposebuilt campus designed to be environmentally friendly and tranquil , bordering a river and one of the last vestiges of forest in the northern region . Unusually , the school belongs to a Mauritianregistered charitable trust and operates on a nonprofit basis , with financial accessibility to a wide array of people being one of its core operational objectives .
