Proof.
You’ve probably never thought about it, but this
little word packs a huge punch. It separates an innocent
verdict and a guilty one. Add the word “water” in
front of it and suddenly your mascara won’t run in
sad movies, prefix it with “bullet”, throw on a vest
and just like that: your favourite character makes it
into the sequel. It even tells you how many drinks
you should have before everything seems hilarious.
For us, we wanted to create a publication that was
all about ideas. If you think about it, some of the world’s
greatest innovations all came into being simply because
someone had a thought—an idea. Because someone said,
“imagine if…” or “I wonder why…”, and took that thought
and ran with it. They ran really, really far with it. And
then they brainstormed and experimented, listened and
learned, until finally, they created something interesting.
So we thought, that with its shades of meanings
and interpretations, along with our desire to
create a different type of lifestyle magazine,
we would call our magazine PROOF.
And to be honest with you, PROOF is a passion project.
It is a canvas for our creativity, and a way for us to expand
our knowledge and challenge our preconceptions. More
importantly, PROOF is an opportunity to share just a
little bit more of ourselves with you and showcase the
Blueprint Creative culture in all its glory—analytical,
sarcastic, reflective, cheesy and always fun.
With our background in print, Blueprint Creative
has learned a lot of lessons from that industry and even
though we have expanded our services throughout
the years, printing and proofing are in our blood.
In this inaugural issue, PROOF is
focusing on the five senses— the ultimate
proof of the world around us.
Touch. Taste. Sound. Sight. Smell.
Each one of our senses helps to provide proof
that we are living— whether it’s the contentment
you feel when holding the hand of someone you
love or the way your taste buds explode the first
time tasting a sour and spicy ceviche taco. It’s the
sound of your favourite calypso and the salty smell
of the sea. It’s the way we live, authentically.
Hopefully I’ve given you a sense (pun
intended) of our goals for this edition,
and proof (oh, look! Another pun!) of our
commitment to stimulate your imaginations.
