KEEPING AHEAD OF THE CURVE
CONTENTS
Michael Jackson, international speaker and change
agent (not the late pop star), claims that by 2020
we will be 44 times busier. Not sure how the maths
works, but it’s fair to say that the pace of life is
accelerating and in future we’ll be working not at
the speed of light, but at the speed of fright. One
thing that impresses me about the people who
work at Electrosonic SA (and the clients who use
our products and services) is the level of expertise
and passion for what they do. They understand that
things move very fast in this field, and that they need
to stay on the learning curve to keep clients happy.
The University of Johannesburg (UJ) is one institution
that is making every effort to change with the times.
Digital signage (on NEC displays) was recently
installed in the libraries of all four campuses, mainly
for social interaction and information sharing. UJ is
embracing innovation and technology to drive their
vision of having the largest e-collection of books on
the African continent.
Kramer Electronics succeed by out-pacing the
competition. They’re constantly bringing new
products to the market, and they have a winner in
their VIA Collage – a wireless collaboration device. It’s
the way to meet smarter and faster. This innovative
system automatically recognises attendees, and
allows all participants to share files wirelessly and
work on documents at the same time. No wonder
this pioneering device won Best in Show Awards at
InfoComm14.
At 216m the Bloukrans Bridge is the highest
commercial bungee jump in the world. If you’re
going to fall from that height you want a record of it
– preferably in full HD. Face Adrenalin is the company
that’ll nudge you off the edge of the bridge, and
now clients have nudged them to upgrade their
video facilities. Read about Videquip’s death-defying
antics to upgrade the video system at Bloukrans.
Training, and people development, is a priority
at Electrosonic SA – and one of the ways in which
we keep pace with constant change. Jesse Dullabh
recently presented the Martin M-Series Lighting
Control course to our lighting clients in Joburg,
Durban and Cape Town. All venues were fully
booked and over 50 delegates experienced the
power of Martin’s Controllers.
PROMAG’s cover story showcases Samsung’s AV
control system installation at their training facilities
in Bryanston. Corporate AV Integration installed an
elegant and flexible system to assist trainers with a
fool-proof, user-friendly solution. And they did it in
only three days!
Rave bunnies flocked to the Coca-Cola dome in
Johannesburg for the Armin Only: Intense show,
featuring world renowned DJ Armin van Buuren.
They were treated to a once-in-a-lifetime sound
and visual spectacular. The awesome photos and
equipment list (page 14 & 15) speak for themselves!
Bruce Genricks recently honoured staff members
who’ve been employed at Electrosonic SA for the
past five, ten and fifteen years (page 6). Think of the
changes that have happened in our industry since
some of our ‘older’ staff joined. The kit from 2000
may not be worth much, but some things don’t lose
value: loyalty and passion for your profession.
Well done to our employees and clients for
continuing to provide great service - you’re an
inspiration!
Enjoy the read.
