"Is the crystal energy cell responding to the power up sequence?" a scientist asked
"Starting up as normal, it will be ready in 30 seconds," replied an engineer. Behind a blast proof window were a bunch of scientists and a general from the army. They were overlooking a dark room that was full of engineers running around unplugging cables and releasing restraints. In the centre of the room were 20 metallic figures which looked almost human, their chest were glowing a fluorescent green. As the engineers closed the blast doors behind them, one of the figures eyes flickered to life, followed by a second then a third. Within seconds all the figures eyes were glowing the same green their chest were glowing a second ago. "So this is project hunter?" Asked the general.
"Yes sir," replied the head scientist "ready for the demonstration?"
"Yes I am, it's time to see what 10 years of research can do," the general replied
"Activate protocol alpha!" The head scientist barked. Suddenly in all at once the figures said "We are ready to serve," then a metal frame started to materialise in the hand. Within 10 seconds a long black tube with a block at one end and a barrel under the other had materialised, then the green energy from their chest filled the gap between the barrel and the block. Then energy crackled and fizzed for a while until it finally settled. "Very good," the General said. He had a big grin on his face now. "I want to see them fire those weapons,"
"Yes, sir" the head scientist replied. "Activate protocol foxtrot" The figure at the front slowly raised it weapon up towards the glass. A handful of targets appeared around the room for the figures to hit. The other figures arranged them self quickly into a defensive stance. The room flashed with green light as the machines fired with deadly accuracy. Every target was hit in seconds except for the one in front of the 1st figure. "Why isn't he attacking?" Asked the general. "Must be a bug in his programming," assured a scientist "we will get it fixed immediately" The lights were turns on in the room making it possible to see the figures clearly. The machines looked like metallic skeletons with a glowing crystal where their hearts should be. "How many of these are ready?" Asked the General.
"1500 infantry class, 10 assassin class, 100 recon class, 1 command class and 150 transports with pilots," replied a technician.
"Get them ready for deployment in 2 months time," demanded the general. The technician left the room to tell the engineers. "Deactivate them," the head scientist commanded. One of the scientist flipped a switch. "Sir, they aren't responding to commands!" A scientist shouted. "What!" Screamed the head scientist "that's not possible, they are still in attack mode!" Suddenly a green arc screamed throughout the air and hit the general in the forehead, killing him instantly. The was a second of silence as everybody was processing what just happened. Suddenly the door behind them burst open and one of the skeletons walked in. This one eyes glowed a crimson red and had one eye that was larger than the other. Alarms started ringing and the sound of boots clanking along the floor could be heard. The scientist were cowering in a corner, some of them screaming, some crying and the rest just stared. The skeleton opened fire, a red bolt piercing through the air. The bolt hit the control panel which then exploded killing a lot of the scientists. The machine picked the rest of one by one but stopped when he got to the head scientist. It then grabbed the scientist and ran off. The skeletons in the darkened room moved to a each of the two blast doors ready to breach them. The first blast door was disintegrated by the arcs fired at it, the second flung open as soldiers flooded the room. The soldiers opened fire with their assault rifles but the bullets pinged harmlessly of the machines. Recognising the threat the machines reacted with a volley of arcs. The arcs weren't aimed to kill but to cause pain and suffering before finishing them off. The lab was quickly isolated and wiped out leaving nothing but corpses.
