the revolution
NIGERIA, a land so fertile with enough resources at hand
Democracy is the existing system
Where our opinions are heard though rarely followed
A large percentage of diligent people are found here
An air of positivity exists amongst us
Determination for success is seen in our nation
But alas the cons outweigh the pros
And our land indeed has brought great harm
A nation we see where bad governance is a norm
Our leaders plot ways to dominate us and exploit us
A land where disaster awaits us at the wake of dawn
There is bloodshed ever so often
Why my brothers, do we fight each other?
Why do we go on hurting ourselves?
The educational system suffers with every strike that ensues
The government do as they please to our detriment
The land seems to retrogress rather than progress
Every four years we look heavenward
Hoping for good leaders that will ensure normalcy in our hand
But hope is only a grain of sand as our solution lies within us
If only we could have a nation free of tribalism, bloodshed,
Religious extremism, ethnic debacles, corruption amongst others
When shall we have total peace again and end our rivalry?
When, my brothers, shall we come together to build ourselves?
When, my brothers, shall we seek each other’s interests?
We need to work on our attitudes and behaviours first
We need to be determined to bring about a transformation
Only then will NIGERIA be a conducive environment for us all
