What worked well
• Exam skills & knowledge gains: Teachers highlighted improved exam technique / knowledge of the paper, with pre / post assessment helping students“ see how they improved.” o“ Students could see how they improved by completing an assessment at the start … and then compare to the end.”
• Confidence: Multiple comments linked the programme to greater confidence approaching exams.
• Well organised & engaging: One teacher noted the programme was well organised and students were engaged and happy.
• Useful staff insight: The end-of-programme report was valued for showing areas of weakness and how they improved across the five days.
Challenges
• Intensity / timetable: The“ five full days back-to-back” format was the single strongest theme— reported as challenging, leading to fatigue and some reluctance to return / participate. o“ 5 full days back to back was quite challenging for some weaker students.” o“… meant some students felt reluctant to return and therefore reluctant to participate in discussion.”
• Curriculum knock-on: Concern about students missing other subjects during the five days.
