Gatsby at one of his famous parties

Why Gatsby took the Fall

It was a dark night; a yellow roadster sped down the road, in an instant it struck someone dead. That person was none other than Tom Buchannan's lover Myrtle Wilson. The driver was none other than Daisy Buchannan, but Jay Gatsby took the fall for the murder, buy why?

Now some people believe that it may have been Gatsby actually driving the car and that he was lying to Nick. Others believe that Daisy manipulated Gatsby into taking the blame for her wrong doing. The only answer that makes sense to me is that by that point Gatsby knew that Daisy would never be his and he made the ultimate sacrifice to save the one person he truly loved.

Now many people would wonder why he just does not try to get a new girlfriend. If they knew Gatsby they would realize that he will never care for someone more than he cares for Daisy. This is why I believe that Jay Gatsby took the fall for Daisy Buchannan's mistake.
