FOOD SENSITIVITY
COULD LEAKY GUT BE
CAUSING YOU ISSUES?
Why Food Sensitivity Testing Matters
B
roccoli is good for me, right?
Maybe not. How about bananas
or peppers? It depends. What
are healthy foods for one
person may cause elevated insulin,
immune response, and inflammation
for others. Joint pain, headaches,
fatigue, and skin rashes are just
a few of the nondigestive-related
symptoms that could be experienced
as a result of food sensitivities. Many
times, these symptoms can turn
on overnight without warning. FOOD SENSITIVITY TESTING
TAKES OUT THE GUESSWORK.
Leaky gut can contribute to a
number of illnesses, autoimmune
disorders, mental health issues, and
energy deficiencies. By conducting
comprehensive food sensitivity testing,
Progressive doctors can help you on
a path to healing your gut, reducing
sensitivities, and recovering health! #1: DOES THE TEST INCLUDE BOTH
IGE AND IGG (SUBTYPE 4 AND
TOTAL) IMMUNOGLOBULINS?
Knowing is half the battle. Creating a
plan is the other half. When it comes
to food sensitivity testing, labs use
a variety of methods—some more
comprehensive than others—giving
a complete snapshot of reaction
levels. To ensure you have the most
comprehensive method available,
make sure to ask these key questions:
It is valuable to know both the
immediate responses to food as well
as the delayed. It is estimated that
95 percent of all food sensitivities
are the delayed type! The balance of
these immunoglobulins is important
because IgG 4 specifically can
help neutralize the IgE reaction.
#2: DOES THE TEST INCLUDE C3D
(COMPLEMENT COMPONENT 3)?
C3d is the protein in your innate
immune system that is activated by
microorganisms in the absence of
an antibody. When C3d is activated
in response to an antigen, the C3d
portion attaches to the antigen. The
activation will amplify the reaction that
occurs, greatly increasing inflammation
and symptoms of sensitivity. In
other words, if a food reaction level
scores a two but the complement is
present, then that reaction impact
increases (more like a three to four).
#3: DOES THE TEST INCLUDE
BLOCKING POTENTIAL?
When IgG4 reaction is greater than
the IgE reaction for a particular
food, IgG4 blocks the IgE antibodies
from binding to the receptor sites
and releasing histamine, thereby
reducing severity of the symptoms
associated with the IgE reaction.
Simply stated, if a food reaction level
scores a three, but the blocking agent
is present, then the reaction impact
decreases (more like a one to two).
Complete elimination of IgG
positive foods may bring about
important improvements in
symptoms of IBS, autism, ADHD,
cystic fibrosis, rheumatoid arthritis,
and epilepsy as demonstrated in
numerous clinical studies.
