Jane Addams

Jane Addams was a female reformer who was born in 1860. She hated the cultural expectation that women should devote their life to family, so she never married. Instead, she devoted her life to helping poor immigrant families. In 1889, Jane Addams founded her first Hull House in Chicago, Illinois, which helped to build schools, playgrounds for kids, health clinics, employment agencies, and give women in abusive relationships protection. She didn’t stop there though, in 20 years Jane Addams had established 400 Hull houses throughout cities in the United States.
