Relevant popular songs will be covered in tandem with techniques and exercises. Some music theory will be explained to help students understand topics covered. A fun class incorporating different styles of music, including pop, rock, soul, blues, musical theatre, classical and folk. You will have the opportunity to sing individually as well as collectively. The application of vocal technique, performance skills and harmony work will be encouraged in a relaxed and supportive environment. Participants can expect to develop their knowledge of and confidence in playing electric blues guitar by learning blues licks and techniques based on the styles of well-known players, and constructing and playing 12-bar blues solos in real-time. You will need to bring your own instrument and ideally a small amplifier. Not suitable for absolute beginners. Musical notation, tablature and CD audio provided. Popular/Rock Guitar Intermediate Continuation This course is for more experienced guitar players who have a good understanding of the basics and wish to further develop their playing. You will study a range of guitar styles, analyse chord construction and rhythm and lead techniques, while developing your improvisation skills. This course is suitable for both acoustic and electric guitars.
