Silk Painting
Workshop
Learn about the history of indigo and
shibori in Japan. You will learn how to
fold tenugi (Japanese hand towels) and
stitch or clamp to achieve the desired
Shibori design. You will also learn how
to make a mini indigo bath and how to
dye shibori tenugi.
This is a Long Pose workshop in which
the model will maintain the same pose
for the whole session. It is suitable for
experienced artists, as it provides the
opportunity to complete a painting or
drawing, but it is also suitable for those
who wish to do many quick drawings.
All materials/media welcome.
Throughout the day, we will explore
various methods of drawing, painting
on, and printing from the metal plate.
Printmaking marks range from very
painterly to very graphic imagery and
we shall find a style to suit you. This
course covers monoprint, drypoint, and
chine-colle, using professional quality
linseed inks and handmade papers.
Past participants have created various
editions, taking home prints to give
away as presents for friends and
family.
