You will learn how to fold tenugi (Japanese hand towels) and stitch or clamp to achieve the desired Shibori design. You will also learn how to make a mini indigo bath and how to dye shibori tenugi. This is a Long Pose workshop in which the model will maintain the same pose for the whole session. It is suitable for experienced artists, as it provides the opportunity to complete a painting or drawing, but it is also suitable for those who wish to do many quick drawings. All materials/media welcome. Throughout the day, we will explore various methods of drawing, painting on, and printing from the metal plate. Printmaking marks range from very painterly to very graphic imagery and we shall find a style to suit you. This course covers monoprint, drypoint, and chine-colle, using professional quality linseed inks and handmade papers. Past participants have created various editions, taking home prints to give away as presents for friends and family.
