Page 21 Classes and Workshops The Spoken and Written Word Dr. Rachael Kelly Jo Egan Writing Fiction This class will focus mainly on novels and short stories, although other forms of prose fiction can also be looked at. The focus will be a practical one, with students bringing in their own work for discussion and feedback. There will also be writing exercises in class and homework tasks. Beginners welcome. The course also supports the development of the writer as artist and offers insight into a regular practice offering participants the opportunity to create unique work.  Workshops will develop skills through close reading, writing practice and constructive feedback. For those already engaged in writing poetry who would like to develop their skills. An opportunity to read and discuss a range of poems, and learn by practice from their fine example. We will continue to consult, among other texts, the Bloodaxe anthology, Staying Alive: real poems for unreal times. NB: You can enroll in either the Tuesday or Friday class.
