A Beginner’s
Guide to Anime:
When animation
is not just for
children
Sean O’Casey is one of the giants of
modern Irish theatre whose works are
regularly performed today. This
practical workshop will examine his
career and place in Irish theatre history
and will give actors the opportunity to
workshop a selection of speeches and
scenes from some of his major plays.
Rosie is a classically trained actor with
over twenty years’ professional
experience.
This workshop is intended to provide
an introduction to Japanese animation
(commonly known as anime). We will
discuss its origins, the terminology and
style. We will also look at some of the
best examples from each respective
genre. Whether you are a seasoned
viewer or completely new to anime
and you’re curious to see what all the
fuss is about come and enjoy this crazy
journey through the world of anime.

Sight reading is a crucial skill for actors
who attend auditions, perform poetry
or play readings on stage, or radio or
for anyone who needs to read aloud in
a public setting. It is a skill that can be
learned and improved. Rosie is an actor
who has read novels by Margaret
Atwood and Bernard McLaverty on BBC
Radio and has performed readings
from Dickens as part of the Dickens
2012 project.
