Women are breaking the mold in business and creating their own paths to success . Whether it is in tech or health and beauty , black women know their worth . Clean Beauty is a life-style change . Beautycounter Consultant Leslie Waldon is making it her mission to inform the people she loves to join the movement to get safer products in the hands of everyone .
Just a few years ago , Waldon ’ s then young daughter battled severe stomach pains . After numerous hospital visits , with no real solutions , her daughter took it upon herself to switch her diet and go Vegan . She also chose to use only natural products on her skin and in her hair . This new lifestyle was unfamiliar . Waldon noticed her daughter ’ s pains were not as severe , her skin cleared , and her hair was healthier .
Waldon found a group of over 100 African American women throughout Atlanta , Memphis , and DC who were Beautycounter consultants , many of whom were already accomplished in their careers . These women were not just peddling lipstick but marching on the steps of Washington to advocate for safer personal care products and questioning the harmful ingredients found makeup . Through this discovery , Waldon wondered why would anyone use harmful lotions , powders , and sprays on their skin ?
Waldon has taken her Beautycounter business even further . She realized with the loss of both grandparents to Cancer and meeting so many young women battling this deadly disease , she had to get the word out . She joined forces with Susan G . Komen breast cancer foundation , My Style Matters coowner , Tiah Tomlin , and Breast , Body , and Beauty Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon , Dr . Aisha Baron of Atlanta to bring cleaner beauty products to women .
