use of the creative mind and certain technical skill to produce images or objects including sculpture , photography and painting . Fine art takes that definition even further and includes aesthetic considerations as an important element distinguishing it from generally acquired skills and decorative arts . Philosophers and others have characterized art in terms of expression , communication of emotion or other values .

The fine artist , Paul Houzell , is a native Floridian , reared and educated in Southern California who has returned to his roots to share the fruits of his labor and learning and express his definition of fine art .
Mr . Houzell ' s art education began at Lincoln High School in Tallahassee and continued in California where he received a Bachelor ' s degree in Art History at the University of Dominguez Hills and a Masters of Art History at Berkeley University . He became an art educator with an understanding that art and its history are essential parts of our being .

Philosophy : He never creates art for art ' s sake . He has a concern for humanitarianism , spirituality and education and through his art he strives to introduce the concept of healing thus his theme : " Healing through the Arts ". Operating from the spiritual realm , he feels that art is therapeutic and provides a refuge from the sometimes harsh realities of life . He creates art to tell stories , communicate and to touch lives and wants his works to bring pleasure , affirmation and healing to the human soul .
He is a traditional realistic visual artist , but excels through his creativity in a variety of styles . ( i . e . diverse paintings such as " Wazzup " and " Isis and Horus , Mary and Jesus "). He has a number of different series that depict various perspectives of the familiar illustrating the possibilities of things that could have been including the Bug ' s Eye View ( Flower Series ), Native Spirit Series , My Contemporary Black Egyptians Series and the Music Series .
His extensive repertoire of paintings , numbering over 200 , has been shown nationally and internationally including Africa and Brazil . His
