Texas State Fair Football Showdown
The Lone Star Sports Team is proud to bring you the State Fair Football Showdown Game to be held on Saturday , October 20th , 2018 @ 2:00p . m C . S . T in the historic Cotton Bowl Stadium in Dallas during the immensely popular State Fair of Texas !
Southwestern Athletic Conference ( SWAC ) competition will be fierce , pitting Houston ’ s own Texas Southern University Tigers against the Jaguars of Southern University , Baton Rouge , Louisiana campus . This Historical Black College / University ( HBCU ) football game and rivalry will also feature a “ Battle of the Bands and Greek Step Show ,” along with other scheduled events .
The State Fair Football Showdown commemorates and celebrates the culmination of Athletics , Academics , and Pioneering Achievements of HBCU students , graduates and faculty collectively .
But let ’ s just be real , it ’ s not just another football game and it ’ s not just four quarters . The show starts at Halftime . This time , Halftime will be bigger than any other Halftime show in State Fair history .

It ’ s more than just bragging rights ; this is the battle that will answer the question , “ Who rocks the house the best ?”
Southern University brings from Baton Rouge , Louisiana , the internationally renowned Human Jukebox , which sits at the top of the hill of HBCU Bands . However , TSU will have something to say about that , because as far as they are concerned , there is none better . Texas Southern rolls in with the 9th wonder of the world directly from Houston , Texas , The Ocean of Soul .
There will be no sitting during this halftime ! There will be no restroom or concession breaks , this is why the stands will be filled to capacity . The Human Jukebox will perform a high-stepping midfield drill while blowing loud , with precision that is second to none . But for Texas Southern , it ’ s not the size of the ship that makes you sick , it ’ s the motion of The Ocean . And at the State Fair of Texas they will be looking to drown the Jukebox in it ’ s Ocean of Soul . This Halftime Showtime is worth the price of admission , and it ’ s worth coming from wherever you need to come from to be there !
